A database (1860-1954
Tract Books Index) has been compiled that allows researchers
to locate references within the 163 land tract books that list
the first owners of land in Nebraska. The tract books are on
47 microfilm reels. For a copy of
the land entry from the tract books, contact the Library/Archives
Reference Staff. Prepaid fee for a copy from this source is $5.00
for Nebraska residents and members of NSHS. For non-residents
who are not members of the Society, the fee is $10.00. Copies
of the complete land file can be acquired from the National Archives
with the information found in the tract books.
The researcher
may input a Name, Section, Township, and/or Range and will be
given a listing of all the matching name index entries.
| If
you entered... |
|
The search results would include... |
Name: Abbott
Section: 7
Township: 30
Range: 51W |
|
All references to first/last name "Abbott"
in Section "7" Township "30" Range "51W"
in the tract books index. Note that only one field is
required for a search, if you don't know the Section, Township
and/or Range leave those fields blank. |
The following information is
given for most entries:
- Name
- Section
- Township
- Range
