Arcade Hotel (Omaha, Neb.)

RG3870.AM:  Arcade Hotel (Omaha, Neb.)

Records:  1886-1887
Omaha, Douglas County, Neb.:  Hotel
Size:  2 volumes on 1 reel of microfilm

The Arcade Hotel is first listed in the 1885 Omaha City Directory at 1215 Douglas Street, Omaha. O.C. Campbell was the first proprietor but by the next year James Casey had assumed the job. The hotel was a moderately priced facility and was often frequented by theatrical groups. The Arcade diminished in stature as the years went by and the area deteriorated. At the time of its demolition in the 1960s, it was considered by many to be a flophouse.

This collection consists of two volumes of manuscript material arranged in two series: 1) Registers, 1886-1887; and 2) Menus, 1887-1888.

The collection consists of one microfilm reel containing two registers of the Arcade Hotel, 1215 Douglas Street, Omaha, Nebraska. The numbers in the column behind the signatures appear to be room numbers. There are occasional notes of rooms with bath or stove. Also noted are the meals taken. The menus were found in volume two.

The registers were loaned for filming by the Douglas County Historical Society, Omaha, Nebraska. The NSHS does not hold the original volumes.
