BACKGROUND NOTE

Hoover and Schmidt Dry Goods Store was opened July 7, 1870, and was considered to be the first business in Louisville, Nebraska. It was operated by Captain J.T.A. Hoover, founder of Louisville.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of one reel of microfilm containing one volume of financial records relating to the accounts of credit customers of the Hoover and Schmidt Dry Goods Store, Louisville, Nebraska, from July 1870 to September 1871. The volume was loaned for microfilming in 1965. The Nebraska State Historical Society does not hold the original volume.
