The material in this collection is arranged in two series: 1) Records, 1885-1945 and 2) History, origins to 1956. Two volumes of records, 1885-1910 and 1911-1945 respectively, form Series 1. Entries are in the Swedish language. A scrapbook containing church history and photographs forms Series 2. The first portion of the scrapbook contains a history of the church and community up to 1910, written in Swedish by Oscar Berggren. The second portion contains a history in English by Miss Ruth E. Gustafson.

This collection relates to the history of the church and community up to 1956. The church was originally called the Chicago Settlement Free Church. It served the Chicago settlement of Swedish settlers in Hamilton County. The Monroe Evangelical Free Church collection was loaned for microfilming in April of 1956.
