BACKGROUND NOTE

Charles Hole was born on September 16, 1851, in West Pennard, Somerset, England. He came to the United States in 1870 and after spending two years in Michigan moved to Fillmore County, Nebraska, where he homesteaded eighty acres of land in Liberty Township. In 1878 he moved to Exeter, Nebraska, where he worked as a plasterer and mason. In that same year he married Kate Williams of Morrison, Illinois. The Holes built a house in Exeter in 1881 and raised five daughters. Charles Hole died on November 4, 1923.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of one reel of microfilm containing an account book, 1879-1919, kept by Charles Hole. This account book contains a few general expenses of Hole for 1879 but is primarily a record of income from his work as a plasterer and chimney-builder in Exeter, Nebraska, from 1879-1919. The account book was loaned for microfilming in September of 1976.
