BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Clyde B. Burge was born in Thompson, Nebraska on September 1, 1894. His parents were Elmer Burge and Abbie Thompson Burge. Abbie was the daughter of Isaac Newton Thompson, for whom the town of Thompson was named. She died of complications the day she gave birth to Clyde. Clyde attended Elementary school in Fairbury, Nebraska; High School in Lincoln, Nebraska; and his higher education at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. He enlisted in the Navy in 1914, served during World War I, and was discharged in April of 1919. He worked for the Lincoln Telephone and Telegraph Company for forty-three years and retired as Southern District Manager at Beatrice, Nebraska. He moved to Prescott, Arizona with his wife, Helen Drake Burge, and lived there until his death on January 11, 1988. The Burges had no children.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of the papers of Clyde B. Burge. They relate mostly to his naval service in WWI, including correspondence, official documents, and clippings. Also included are a few clippings about Isaac Newton Thompson and his wife, Julia Ann Haworth Thompson.
