The collection consists of the military service records (1894-1911) of Edward W. Galbraith of Gordon, Nebraska. He served with the 5th, 6th, and 8th Regiments of the U.S. Calvary. During this time period he was assigned to Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Camp Eldridge, Philippines; Fort Keogh, Montana; Arecibo, Puerto Rico; and Fort Robinson, Nebraska. The various certificates and papers give a physical description of Galbraith, his rank, his pay, and an assessment of his military skills. Also included are a 1938 letter from the U.S. War Department stating that he was not eligible for the Puerto Rican occupation medal, and his 1942 death certificate.
