SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of a letter dated February 10, 1858 from Harrison J. Brown to Charles Coe regarding the anti-slavery cause in the Nebraska Territory, specifically Brown's determination to "back...down" the Democrat newspapers in the area. Brown established the Omaha Republican newspaper on May 5, 1858. Brown requests lists of subscribers from Coe.
