SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The collection consists of biographical and research materials about William Pitt Kellogg, especially his career as Chief Justice of the Nebraska Supreme Court and his removal from the position in 1864. The collection includes copies of the February 8, 1864 petition with the names of those who wanted Kellogg removed. There is also a letter from Florence S. Hellman, Library of Congress, to Louise A. Nixon, Librarian, Nebraska Legislative Council, dated June 1, 1940, in which is included references found about Kellogg at the Library of Congress.
