RG4072.AM: Harmony Cemetery Association (Fillmore County, Neb.)
Belle Prairie Township, Fillmore County, Neb.: Cemetery association
Size: 1 box (2 volumes)
The Belle Prairie Cemetery Association was organized on January 25, 1879 in order to establish and keep in good repair a place of interment in Belle Prairie Township, Fillmore County, Nebraska. The cemetery was located on a corner of land owned by Whitefield Crawford on Section 27, in the northeast corner of Twp. SN, R2W. The cemetery's name was changed to Harmony Cemetery, probably because of its close proximity to the Harmony Church and Harmony Schoolhouse.
According to local residents, the oldest grave in the cemetery is that of Rhado Matt who died on January 18, 1879; the oldest surviving monument is that of Myrtle Conley, an infant who died on March 10, 1881.
The Harmony Cemetery is located three miles south of Strang and two miles east of U.S. Highway 81.
