BACKGROUND NOTE

The Table Rock Historical Society was organized by thirty-nine people on November 12, 1965. Formal organization was completed on November 25, when articles of incorporation and by-laws were accepted. On May 22, 1966, the Society dedicated its two museums, the old Opera House Museum and the Table Rock Pioneer Museum. For Nebraska's Centennial in 1967, the Table Rock Historical Society placed items in a one hundred year time capsule.

In addition to its role in exhibiting artifacts from Table Rock's and Pawnee County's past, the Society collects newspaper clippings, reminiscences, family histories, and other papers that document the history of the area. The materials in this collection reflect that aspect of the Society's work.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

This collection consists of one box of manuscript material containing topical files. All of the materials relate to various aspects of Table Rock and/or Pawnee County history.
