Margarita Arsiaga

Margarita Arsiaga was born in Fredericksburg, Texas, in 1912. She moved to Big Springs, Texas, in the 1930s and later traveled to Wheatland, Wyoming, finally settling in Mitchell, Nebraska, in 1940. She is a quilter and, as part of a musical family, a singer. She prides herself on passing her singing traditions on to her children (daughters Fran Gallardo (right) and Rose Burns are pictured here) and grandchildren.

Margarita Arsiaga nació en Fredericksburg, Texas, en 1912. En los años treinta, ella se trasladó a Big Springs, Texas, y más tarde viajó a Wheatland, Wyoming, para finalmente establecerse en Mitchell, Nebraska, en 1940. Ella es artista de colchas [quilts] y, como miembro de una familia musical, es cantante. Se enorgullece de pasar las tradiciones musicales a sus hijos (fotografiada junto a ella están sus hijas Fran Gallardo (derecha) y Rose Burns) y nietos.
