Position Title: Collections Assistant / Reference Materials
Date: 3-22-06
Division: Museum of Nebraska History
Supervisor: Laura Mooney / Deb Arenz

Duties / Responsibilities: Intern will be re-organizing the Museum Collections Department reference materials consisting of approximately 3,300 titles as well as updating and re-organizing the reference materials database (Microsoft Access and Past Perfect museum software).

Qualifications:

Required: Previous organizational and/or filing skills, knowledge of standard library practices, computer skills

Desired: Prior experience working in a library; familiarity with Past Perfect and Microsoft Access

Hours per week: Minimum 10, Maximum 40
Days preferred: M-F 8am-5pm

Semesters Available: Summer, Fall

Number of interns per semester: 1

What can the student expect to learn from the internship? Organizational skills, Past Perfect collections management software, Microsoft Access

What special equipment will be available to the intern? Office Equipment, computer, materials needed for research library re-organization

What type of training will be provided by the Society? Training to use Past Perfect computer software, Microsoft Access, training to use and understand the current research library organizational system

Compensation: Unpaid

Credit hours: Negotiable
