Position Title: Collections Assistant / Textiles

Supervisor: Laura Mooney / Deb ArenzDuties / Responsibilities: Portions of the historic clothing collection need to be re-housed, researched, and cataloged. Concentrating on items from the 19th century, the intern will do some research in preparation for cataloging, complete catalog paperwork, re-house collection items using methods approved by the curator and conservators, and enter information into the database. Interns can concentrate on areas of interest (women's clothing, men's clothing, uniforms, specific decades) as long as they fall within the 19th century.
Qualifications:
Required: Must have completed college level coursework in Museum Studies, history, or related field and pursuing a career in the museum field.
Desired: Prior experience working in a museum collections department with historic textiles; graduate level coursework in collections care and / or textile preservation; familiarity with Past Perfect museum software.
Hours per week: Minimum 10, Maximum 40
Days preferred: M-F 8am-5pmSemesters Available: Summer, Fall
