WILLA CATHER, 1873-1947
Willa Cather was Nebraska's best known novelist. She grew up in Nebraska and many of her stories and novels are about her hometown of Red Cloud and the people she knew while living there. She was the author of twelve published novels, a book of poetry, and many short stories and essays. In 1923 she received the Pulitzer Prize. Her best-known novels are My Antonia, O Pioneers! and Death Comes for the Archbishop.
Willa Cather's childhood home can be visited at 245 Cedar Street in Red Cloud, Nebraska. The Willa Cather Childhood Home is a historic site owned by the Nebraska State Historical Society.
