LOREN EISELEY, 1907-1977
A native of Lincoln, Loren Eiseley began his lifelong exploration of nature in the salt flats and ponds around the city and among the bones at the University of Nebraska State Museum at Morrill Hall. An anthropologist, poet/writer, science educator, teacher, and philosopher, he had the unique ability to combine science and humanism and to make science understandable to a general audience. Eiseley's most noted book, The Immense Journey, is a collection of essays, which earned him a national and international reputation.
