Calling All Scots!
Scottish-American Heritage to be featured at August 9 presentation at Nebraska State Historical Society
A pair of carved stones commemorating Tartan Day will be presented to the Nebraska State Historical Society, 1500 R Street, at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 9th. Created by stone carver Frank Maurer of Davis, California, the stones celebrate the accomplishments of Scottish-Americans while also depicting symbols related to Nebraska history and culture. Dr. Maurer will discuss his own Scottish genealogy research and the intermingled history of Scotland and the United States during the presentation ceremony at the NSHS headquarters, which houses the State Archives and research library. Similar presentations are being made at State Archives around the country. For further information, visit www.nebraskahistory.org call (402)-471-4785 or email andrea.faling@nebraska.gov.
