Weird Nebraska Still-Tasty Bagel Makes Perilous Journey,
Arrives in One Piece, and Lives Happily Ever After

Members of the Heinrich family of Sutton, Nebraska, are said to have brought these bagels with them on their ocean voyage from Germany to the United States in the 1870s. Although the Heinrichs consumed large numbers of bagels during the trip, a few survived to reach Nebraska and become family heirlooms.
