Born in Cayuga County, New York, October 22, 1835, Jacob Adriance entered the Methodist ministry at a young age. He came west and arrived in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska in April of 1857. After traveling around Nebraska, he was assigned to head up the DeSoto Mission. Adriance also rode circuit to various towns including DeSoto, Cuming City, Tekamah, and Decatur. In 1859 Adriance moved to Colorado where he co-founded the Methodist Episcopal Church in Golden City (now Golden, Colorado). He returned to Nebraska in 1862 and served at various churches until failing health forced him to leave active ministry in 1878. He settled on a farm where he lived for nearly 30 years. Jacob Adriance died in Fremont, Nebraska, on December 18, 1922.


This collection consists of one folder containing correspondence, 1911-1914, and a biography. The material in this collection relates to the reminiscences of Rev. Adriance's early days as a circuit rider in Nebraska in 1857.
