Warren S. Allen was born near Brooklyn, Iowa on June 7, 1862. In 1868, the Allens settled on a homestead six miles southeast of Greenwood, Cass County, Nebraska. Warren S. Allen married Anna Dreamer in 1882. They moved to the town of Greenwood where he worked in the general repair shop of George T. Cutler. After Cutler's shop was destroyed by fire, Allen engaged in carpentry and contract work. Eventually, he gained employment with the J. V. Stradley Company.

This collection consists of two contracts dating from 1893. The contracts, dated February 20 and June 1, 1893, are between Frank Jelinek, Jr., Frank Janouch, and J. W.
