MALCOLM X, 1925-1965
Born Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1925, Malcolm X was a spokesperson for African-Americans. When he was twenty he was sentenced to prison for burglary. While in prison, he educated himself and converted to the religion of Islam. He changed his name to Malcolm X when he was released from prison. He became a leader of African-Americans and spoke out against racial inequality. Malcolm X was assassinated in 1965 in New York City.
