Responsibilities: The division publishes Nebraska History quarterly, and conducts research leading to the publication of historical monographs and edited documents. The division also provides research for museum exhibits and the Nebraska historical marker program, and is instrumental in furthering a variety of other publications.
Editorial assistance is routinely provided to other Society divisions. The division is responsible for the Society's Nebraska History News newsletter and the "Nebraska Timeline" newspaper column.
Information services: The Research & Publications division is not a primary point of contact for information requests from students, educators, or the public. The best place to start for this kind of assistance is either the Library/Archives, the Museum, or Education. The division does respond to requests within its areas of expertise that are referred by other Society divisions.
Special events: The division also periodically sponsors special conferences, such as the Fort Robinson History Conference, held at Fort Robinson, Nebraska. Upcoming special events will be posted in the current Nebraska History News newsletter.
