The Ford Conservation Center houses state-of-the-art technical laboratories for the examination, evaluation, and specialized conservation treatment of ceramics, glass, metals, ethnographic materials, archeological materials, wooden artifacts, works of art on paper, photographs, documents, archival materials, books, paintings and textiles.

Conservation Services are provided for historical, cultural, educational, private, and corporate clients in the region. These services include consultation, assessment of collection management needs, assessment of conservation treatment needs, education and training, workshops, and conservation treatment of collection materials.

A library of reference works on conservation and collections care, a microscopy laboratory, secured storage and receiving areas, an x-radiography area, an air abrasive room, and workroom support the conservation activities.

Digital Imaging Laboratory services are available to historical, cultural, educational, private, and corporate clients in the region. The lab offers the highest quality imaging available for cultural collections with the safety and security that comes with supervision by a full staff of professionally trained conservators and curators.

Saving Nebraska' s Treasures Videos and workshop segments will help you preserve items of importance to you and your community.

Plan for Disaster Now: a web page guides you to act before a disaster happens, not after one happens.

An exhibit honoring the center's namesake, President Gerald R. Ford, is open by appointment. Please phone (402) 595-1180 for information.

Construction and partial support of the Gerald R. Ford Conservation Center has been made possible through gifts and bequests from Omaha businessman James M. Paxson to the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation in honor of President Gerald R. Ford.
